Dental crowns can be made from a variety of materials. Your preferences and the tooth's condition will decide your choice.

  • Metal Crowns: Metal crowns are incredibly resistant to wear and hardly ever shatter or break. They need minimum tooth removal and can last for a long time.

  • Porcelain Fused to Metal Crowns: They can be placed on the front and back of teeth, as well as in situations when strengthening and aesthetic improvement of teeth are more important.

The process of creating a dental crown includes two appointments and often takes two to three weeks.

Our Simple 2-Visit Process

The simple 2-visit crown process we use is as follows:

  1. Tooth Preparation: We will examine the tooth thoroughly before preparing it and taking an impression for your personalized crown. You will wear a temporary crown until your permanent crown is ready.

  2. Crown Placement: On your second visit, we will put on your permanent crown after making sure a perfect fit and bite.

Caring for your dental crown

Dental crown restorations do not provide tooth caries immunity. If proper oral hygiene is overlooked, the edges of the dental crown are vulnerable to dental cavities.

At least twice a day, brush and floss your teeth. One way to help avoid plaque accumulation around the edges of the crown is to use antibacterial mouthwash. Avoid eating solid and oily foods to prevent crown fractures or dislodgment.

Speak with your dentist about the requirement for a nightguard to protect your teeth and crowns. To preserve your oral health and extend the life of your dental crown, practice cleanliness and schedule routine checkups.
